UAE fine check: how to check immigration fines on your Emirates ID or passport

How to check a UAE immigration or overstay fine with your Emirates ID, passport or file number on the GDRFA Dubai Fines Inquiry Service, and how to check and pay through ICP for Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates, with the AED 50 per day overstay fine and the other amounts the official cards state.

The short answer

To check a UAE immigration fine, open the GDRFA Dubai Fines Inquiry Service, choose Emirates ID, passport number or file number, enter your nationality, date of birth and gender, and submit. The result shows fines on your own file and on anyone you sponsor. For Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates, the same AED 50 per day overstay fine is checked and paid through the ICP Smart Services fine-payment service. This page covers immigration and residence fines only; traffic fines sit with the RTA and the police apps.

How to check your fine on the GDRFA Dubai portal

  1. Go to the GDRFA Dubai Fines Inquiry Service page (gdrfad.gov.ae, under Services).
  2. Pick a search type: File Number, UDB Number, Emirates ID or Passport Number.
  3. Enter that number, then select your nationality from the drop-down.
  4. Choose the file type (Resident or Permit) and the place of issue (one of the seven emirates).
  5. Add your date of birth and gender, complete the security check and press Submit.
  6. Read the result. It lists fines on your file and on people under your sponsorship.

If the portal says the information did not match its records, re-check the number you typed and the file type. The page itself tells you to call 800 5111 if it still fails.

How to check and pay through ICP (all emirates outside Dubai)

  1. Open the ICP service "Payment of visa or residence violation fine" on icp.gov.ae and press Start Service.
  2. Log in with UAE Pass. ICP says this service requires UAE Pass.
  3. Enter your details, review the fine shown, and pay online. ICP lists the service completion time as two days.
  4. After paying, either fix your status (new visa, renewal or change of status) or leave the UAE. ICP states this as a condition of the service.

What you need

  • Emirates ID number, passport number or your residence or permit file number
  • Nationality, date of birth and gender exactly as on your passport
  • A UAE Pass account if you want to pay through ICP online
  • A card for payment

Official fees and fine amounts

ICP's visa cards say the daily fine starts the day after the grace period that applies to your permit type. The length of that grace period is not published on the cards, so treat your visa expiry date as the date to act on.

Where the fine gets paid

Typically you pay online through GDRFA Dubai smart services or ICP Smart Services. The u.ae FAQ also says a visitor who overstays can pay at immigration offices or at the airport on departure. Paying at the airport means queueing with the clock still running, so paying online before travel is the calmer route.

Any "starting from" figure is an indicative price for our service and excludes government and third-party fees, which vary by activity, visa count and jurisdiction. Frequently asked questions

Can I check a fine with just my Emirates ID number?

Yes. On the GDRFA Dubai form, choose Emirates ID as the search type and add your nationality, date of birth and gender.

My visa is from Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. Does the GDRFA Dubai check work?

The GDRFA form has a Place of Issue field for all seven emirates, but the fine is paid through ICP for visas issued outside Dubai. Use the ICP service to pay.

How much is the overstay fine in 2026?

AED 50 per day for visit, tourist and residence overstays, as published on ICP's service cards and on u.ae.

Do I need UAE Pass to check a fine?

Not for the GDRFA Dubai inquiry. ICP's fine-payment service does require a UAE Pass login.

What happens after I pay?

ICP requires you to regularise your status or leave the country after paying. Paying the fine alone does not extend your stay.
