Emirates ID status check: how to track your Emirates ID application
How to track an Emirates ID application on the ICP ID Card Status page with the PRAN application number or your Emirates ID number, the two other methods ICP lists, the late-renewal fine, the renewal windows and the 14 July 2026 change for citizens.
The short answer
To check your Emirates ID status, open the ICP "ID Card Status" page on icp.gov.ae and enter your application number (the PRAN on your receipt, which starts with 010) or, for a renewal or replacement, your existing Emirates ID number. The page shows where the card is in the process. The same check works inside the ICP Smart Services site and the ICP UAE app once you log in.
Key facts
- Where to check
- ICP ID Card Status page (no login), ICP Smart Services account, or the ICP call centre on 600 522 222
- What to enter
- Application number (PRAN, starts with 010) for a first card; Emirates ID number for renewal or replacement
- Biometrics
- Fingerprints and signature at an ICP centre for anyone aged 15 or over, before the card is issued
- Late renewal fine
- AED 20 per day, capped at AED 1,000, starting 30 days after expiry (ICP FAQ; u.ae)
- Urgent service
- Additional AED 150 at an ICP Identity Centre (ICP FAQ)
- Renewal window
- Residents and GCC nationals: on expiry or in the final six months; UAE nationals: final year from 14 Jul 2026
Three ways to track your Emirates ID
ICP's own FAQ lists three methods. Use whichever matches how you applied.
- ICP ID Card Status page (no login). Go to icp.gov.ae, open ID Card Status, type the application number or Emirates ID number and search.
- Your Smart Services account. Log in at smartservices.icp.gov.ae, open My Applications or My Requests, and find the request. If a typing centre applied for you, ask them for the application number and use the tracking option on the same site.
- Call the ICP call centre on 600 522 222 and ask for an update with your application number.
If the online check returns nothing, ICP's page advises logging in to Smart Services or calling the number above. A typo in the application number is the usual cause.
What you need
- The application number (PRAN) from your typing-centre or Smart Services receipt, which begins with 010
- Or your Emirates ID number, for renewal and replacement applications
- A UAE Pass or ICP Smart Services login if you want to see the full application history
- The ICP UAE app if you want the digital card once it is issued
What the statuses mean in practice
ICP does not publish a dictionary of status names, so read them plainly. A request still "in progress" after biometrics typically means printing has not started. If the status asks for an action, such as missing documents or a fingerprint appointment, do that first. Anyone aged 15 or over must complete fingerprints and a signature at an ICP centre before the card can be issued.
Once the card is issued, ICP says you can view the electronic version in the ICP UAE app, and the digital ID also works through UAE Pass. Many people use the digital card while the physical one is in delivery.
Official fees and fines
Issuance and renewal fees themselves depend on card validity and are listed on the ICP service card for Identity Card Renewal. Check the card before paying a typing centre.
| Item | Amount | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Late renewal fine | AED 20 per day, capped at AED 1,000, starting 30 days after expiry | ICP FAQ, u.ae |
| Urgent issue, renewal or replacement at an ICP Identity Centre | Additional AED 150 | ICP FAQ |
Renewal windows
- Residents and GCC nationals can renew on expiry or in the final six months of validity (ICP FAQ).
- UAE nationals can renew in the final year of validity.
- Outside Dubai, the renewal is filed together with the residence renewal on one unified form (ICP renewal card).
- A 30-day grace period follows expiry. After that, the daily fine applies.
Changes in 2026
From 14 July 2026, ICP extended the early-renewal window for citizens from six months to a full year before expiry (ICP blog, 31 July 2026). The resident window is still six months on the ICP FAQ as of this review.

Frequently asked questions
Can I track my Emirates ID without the application number?
For a renewal or replacement, yes, with your Emirates ID number. For a first card you need the application number, which your typing centre or the Smart Services receipt gives you.
Does the card come automatically with my residence visa?
Outside Dubai the application is filed together with the residence application on one form. In Dubai it is a separate step, so check that it was submitted.
My visa was cancelled. Is my Emirates ID still valid?
No. u.ae states the ID is cancelled automatically when the residence visa is cancelled, and the ID expires when the visa expires.
Can an expatriate use the 24-hour urgent service?
u.ae says the urgent service is for UAE and GCC nationals, and for expatriate residents only when replacing a card.
I changed my phone number or address. Do I need to tell ICP?
Yes. Cardholders must report changes to their personal details within one month through the ICP data-update service.
