UAE Golden Visa for skilled professionals: the AED 30,000 route on the current ICP guide

The ICP guide (10 September 2026) now carries a Specialised Professionals route inside its scientists-and-specialists category, alongside a separate route for scientists and researchers with significant achievements. Both give 10 years. The Green visa also uses the phrase skilled workers, with a salary test of AED 15,000 and a MOHRE occupation level of 1 to 3. This page uses the search term skilled professionals because people search for it, and then tells you what the official pages actually say.

When we reviewed this page on 4 September 2026 the ICP guide listed executive directors (degree, five years' experience, contract, salary certificate of at least AED 50,000) and specialists in priority fields, and the AED 30,000 figure appeared on no official page. The guide re-published on 10 September 2026 now contains a Specialised Professionals route with these conditions, quoted from the page:

• "hold a valid work permit in the UAE under a valid and approved employment contract"
• "hold at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent"
• "a monthly salary of at least AED 30,000, or its equivalent in foreign currency"
• senior occupations under the MOHRE-approved occupational classification, which the guide says "includes chairpersons and chief executives at occupational level one, and specialists at occupational level two"
• "comprehensive and valid health insurance coverage throughout the validity period of the residency"

We have therefore withdrawn our earlier line that AED 30,000 was not official. The AED 50,000 executive-director wording did not come back when we read the page today, so we mark it unverified rather than repeat it. If your salary certificate is between AED 30,000 and AED 50,000 and your title is at MOHRE level 1 or 2, you are now inside the published rule.

The current ICP guide does not list them. An older ICP page, still online with 2021 wording, describes the talent groups as "all PhD holders, doctors and engineers in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, programming, electricity and biotechnology, and those who hold specialized degrees in artificial intelligence, big data or epidemiology and viruses". That page is older than the guide and we treat the guide as controlling; the list is useful as an indication of the fields the authority has recognised, not as a current rule. The current guide frames the professional route by MOHRE occupation level rather than by a priority-field list. If your degree is in another scientific or engineering discipline, ask ICP or GDRFA Dubai before you apply.

1. Confirm the route. Specialised professional if you meet the four ICP conditions (work permit, bachelor's degree, AED 30,000 a month, MOHRE level 1 or 2); scientist or researcher if your achievements are the evidence.
2. Obtain the employer documents. Contract, salary certificate and experience letters on letterhead.
3. Attest the degree if it was issued abroad.
4. Run the ICP eligibility check or use GDRFA Dubai's Golden visa services, and submit the nomination.
5. Change status. Most applicants in this group already hold an employment residence. The employer cancels the work permit with MOHRE and the residence; you file the status adjustment (AED 500 on the ICP card) and complete medical, Emirates ID and issuance within 60 days.
6. Work permit. Your employer then obtains the two-year Golden visa holder work permit from MOHRE.

Run the eligibility checker with your salary certificate figure and your degree. If the specialised-professional list fits, ask for a document review; if it does not, the Green Residence is usually the better use of your time. Doctors, scientists and inventors are covered on doctors and scientists.
